ABUJA — Senators from the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the aegis of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF), have strongly condemned the recent violent attacks in Kwara, Katsina and Benue states, describing them as unacceptable and deeply disturbing.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Chairman of the forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua (APC, Katsina Central), expressed the senators’ deepest condolences to the governments and people of the affected states over the attacks, which reportedly claimed more than 130 lives.

“On behalf of the Northern Senators Forum, I express our deepest condolences to the governments and people of Kwara, Katsina and Benue states on the recent brutal attacks that have claimed over 130 lives,” the statement read.

The forum sympathised with the families of the victims and prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed, describing the incidents as senseless acts of violence and a stark reminder of the insecurity confronting the nation.

While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies, the senators urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities. They also called on the Federal Government to step up the recruitment of security personnel to effectively tackle the growing security challenges.

The forum assured the affected states of its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at addressing the root causes of insecurity and promoting national stability, while urging the impacted communities to remain resilient in the face of the tragedy.
