Jumai Hajara Adamu has been elected as the new Lady Captain of Tukur Yusuf Buratai (TYB) International Golf Resort and Country Club, Abuja, following a decisive election held at the clubhouse on Saturday.
Adamu received an overwhelming 129 votes, triumphing over Rose Abus Nyam, who garnered 22 votes, and incumbent Lady Captain Maureen Apute, who received 26 votes. The resounding result was met with applause from club members, who saw it as a clear endorsement of Adamu’s vision for leadership and commitment to fostering unity within the club.
After the announcement, Adamu attributed her victory to divine grace and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all members who supported her. “I return all the glory to God Almighty. This victory is His doing, and I am deeply grateful to every member who believed in me,” she stated.
Adamu pledged to lead with humility, inclusivity, and dedication, promising to enhance camaraderie and promote excellence among female golfers at the club. “With God’s guidance, I will serve diligently, promote unity, and ensure that every lady golfer feels valued and inspired,” she added.
She also expressed gratitude to outgoing Lady Captain Maureen Apute for her service, acknowledging that Apute’s administration laid a solid foundation for future growth.
Club members congratulated Adamu, expressing confidence that her tenure would bring renewed energy and growth to the ladies’ section.
