The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted consignments of explosives allegedly heading to Kano State and arrested 2 suspects in a series of coordinated operations across Kaduna and Kano States.

According to the agency, “two suspects, Aminu Ali Baba, 20, and Abdulrasheed Abubakar, 28, were on Friday 23rd January arrested by NDLEA operatives in connection with the seizure of two bags containing 140 packets of explosives heading to Kano and Kaduna.”

The NDLEA said the explosives were intercepted “in a commercial bus along Kaduna–Zaria highway, Zaria,” adding that “Aminu Ali Baba was arrested at Karota Park in Kano while Abdulrasheed Abubakar was nabbed at Mando Park in Kaduna in swift follow-up operations.”

The arrests were confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday, January 25, 2026, by the Director, Media and Advocacy of the agency, Femi Babafemi, who said the operations were part of ongoing efforts to curb the trafficking of illicit drugs and other dangerous substances.

The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged members of the public to continue to support the agency with credible information to aid its enforcement activities.
