Police recover 26 stolen cows in Oyo, arrest two suspects

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspected cattle rustlers identified as Abu Muhammed and Aliu Bello.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the suspects were attempting to conceal the stolen cattle when they were arrested by operatives of the command.

The operation, according to the command, was carried out at Odojaye via Aganyan, Iresadu.

The PPRO disclosed that during the operation, 26 cows, estimated at N6,250,000, were successfully recovered.

According to the command’s spokesperson, the recovery and arrest of the suspects reflected the “tangible results of coordinated police and community efforts in protecting property and livelihoods.

“Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang and recover the remaining stolen livestock, demonstrating the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the theft and provided details of the criminal network”.
