A civil society organisation, the Omala Integrity Group, has appealed to political parties to allow philanthropist and realtor, Alhaji Sanusi Abdul Sanusi, popularly known as ‘Sanan’, to fly the flag for the Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency.
The group specifically mentioned the All Progressives Congress, the African Democratic Congress and the Social Democratic Party, urging them to put the interests of the people first in their candidate’s selection.
In a statement titled ‘To Get It Right, It Must Be Sanan!’ and made available to journalists in Lokoja on Tuesday, the Chairman of the group, Mr Friday Eneojima, said Sanusi possessed the vision and commitment needed to transform the constituency.
Eneojima said the constituency had long yearned for change and purposeful leadership, adding that Sanusi, popularly known as SANAN, had shown capacity through years of humanitarian service.
“SANAN is not a stranger to our community. He was born and raised in Ankpa and has continued to serve the people with his resources and expertise,” the statement read.
The group noted that Sanusi had created jobs, empowered youths and women, and supported vulnerable residents across the constituency without seeking personal gain.
It described him as a leader of integrity and humility, who listens to the people and has the courage to challenge the status quo.
The group lamented years of neglect in the area, citing poor roads, inadequate schools and health facilities, and rising unemployment.
According to Eneojima, Sanusi has the network and capacity to attract development and deliver on long-standing promises if given the opportunity.
The group appealed to political parties to consider popular demand and allow Sanusi to emerge as their candidate ahead of the next general election.
