The Esther Matthew Tonlagha Foundation has been named the recipient of the Niger Delta Humanitarian Personality of the Year Award in recognition of its consistent humanitarian efforts across the Niger Delta region.

The award, organised by Sam Ujong Ekpambe under the Niger Delta Peace and Meritorious Awards, honours the foundation’s contributions to community development, social welfare, and the empowerment of vulnerable groups.

Speaking on the recognition, Ekpambe said: “The Esther Matthew Tonlagha Foundation represents the true spirit of humanitarian service in the Niger Delta.”

The awards committee noted that the foundation stood out due to its impact in education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, and peacebuilding across several communities.

According to the organisers, the selection process was based on measurable impact, sustainability of projects, and commitment to improving the welfare of disadvantaged populations.
Ekpambe further stated: “Recognising such efforts will encourage more individuals and organisations to invest in humanitarian service and community development.”

The award will be presented at the forthcoming Niger Delta Peace and Meritorious Awards ceremony, which is expected to attract key stakeholders from government, civil society, and the private sector.
The organisers expressed hope that the recognition will inspire more humanitarian initiatives and strengthen efforts toward peace and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
