AFCON Semi-Final: Morocco Coach, Regragui Lauds Three Super Eagles Players Ahead of Nigeria Clas

Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has singled out three Super Eagles stars — Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi — for praise ahead of Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final showdown against Nigeria.

Regragui made the remarks while addressing Nigeria captain Wilfred Ndidi’s absence from the crucial encounter. Ndidi is suspended and will miss the tie against the Atlas Lions, a development the Moroccan coach believes could work in his team’s favour.

The Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika is expected to step in for Ndidi in Nigeria’s starting XI as the Super Eagles aim to book a place in the final.

Speaking to reporters during his post-match interview, Regragui acknowledged Ndidi’s importance but warned that Nigeria still possess significant attacking threats.

“Ndidi’s absence will help us,” Regragui said. “But when you have Osimhen, Lookman, and Iwobi, and when you see their bench, they might change their plan, although I consider that unlikely.”

Both teams head into the semi-final in strong form. Nigeria secured their place after defeating Algeria, while Morocco advanced by overcoming Ivory Coast in their quarter-final clash.

The highly anticipated encounter promises to be a tense battle as two of Africa’s football heavyweights compete for a spot in the AFCON final.
