Former Rivers State Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Sam Anya, has said the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived at the right time to save the country from economic crisis, bleak prospects, and hardship for the people.
Anya stated this yesterday while formalising his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
He said through the implementation of policies and programmes under the agenda, Tinubu has addressed many challenges facing the country and restored citizens’ hope for a brighter future.
The former member of the Peoples Democratic Party, eyeing the Abia North senatorial seat in 2027, explained that he was attracted to the APC because of “how Tinubu is leading the country out of the challenges.”
The Ohafia Local Government Area-born politician noted that while the removal of subsidy on oil is tough, it provides various tiers of government, including the state, with funds to execute unprecedented projects.
“It is on this premise that I have decided to join the APC with over 5,000 supporters, to not only contest elections but also contribute to the development of the country,” he said.
Speaking after formally receiving Anya into the APC, the state chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, expressed delight that quality politicians from the area are joining the party.
Ononogbu, who also handed Anya a bunch of brooms, the symbol of the APC, commended him for his kind words about the president and his decision “to join us for the battle ahead early.”
He assured him that as a party with respect for its constitution and internal democracy, aspirants would be provided a level playing field to ensure the emergence of the best candidates.
While introducing Anya, the state APC 2023 Campaign Organisation Director-General, High Chief Uche Ogboso, described him as a committed and visionary leader with significant followership.
