The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bauchi State chapter, has dismissed what it described as false and misleading reports alleging that Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed was planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The party also described the report as fake, baseless, and irresponsible, urging the public to disregard what it termed deliberate misinformation circulating on social media and fringe platforms.
In a press release issued on Friday, the chairman of the PDP in Bauchi State, Hon. Sama’ila Adamu Burga, stated clearly and unequivocally that Governor Mohammed had no intention whatsoever of leaving the PDP for the ADC or any other political party.
According to Burga, the claim was decisively debunked during a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, and hosted by Governor Bala Mohammed. At the meeting, he said, party leaders and critical stakeholders unanimously reaffirmed their loyalty to the PDP and passed a resounding vote of confidence on Governor Mohammed.
He said the meeting attended by top party officials and leaders, including the Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, members of the State Executive Council, state and local government party executives, elected chairmen of the 20 local government area councils, serving members of the House of Representatives, former Senators, former Speakers, and other influential political stakeholders across the state.
Burga noted that across all party structures and organs, there was a unified message of support for Governor Mohammed, whom stakeholders praised for his leadership, courage, humility, patriotism, and commitment to good governance, both as governor of Bauchi State and as chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF).
He noted that the governor’s principled stance on constitutional order, fairness, and national issues has not come without challenges, including harassment, intimidation, and orchestrated media attacks. However, these pressures, he said, have neither weakened the governor’s resolve nor altered his commitment to democratic values and responsible leadership.
The PDP chairman further disclosed that Governor Mohammed expressed deep appreciation for the vote of confidence and reaffirmed his total loyalty to the PDP, while renewing his dedication to the unity, development, and progress of Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.
Burga emphasised that the governor do not take major political decisions unilaterally, stressing that consultation, inclusiveness, and collective leadership remained core values of the PDP.
“At no time, either privately or publicly, has Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed expressed any intention to defect to the ADC, APC, or any other political party,” he stated.
He added that while the PDP remained open to constructive engagement with other political parties in the interest of national stability and democratic consolidation, such engagement must be founded on truth, mutual respect, and democratic norms, not misinformation and speculation.
Burga reiterated that Governor Bala Mohammed remained a loyal, committed, and principled leader of the PDP, firmly rooted in the party’s ideals. “The PDP remains power to the people,” he stated.
