Kwara: Kidnappers Of 4 Travellers Yet To Contact Families, Community

Published:

The bandits that kidnapped four travellers on the Isanlu–Isin–Omu Aran Road in Kwara State, on Monday, have not contacted anyone or the community for ransom payment.

Unconfirmed reports said the travellers were abducted in the early hours of Monday by the gunmen who laid ambush for motorists on  the road.

As at the time of filing this report, efforts to get the reaction of the state police command were futile.

But, the coordinator of the Kwara South Joint Community Security Watch Network, Mr Olaitan Oyin-Zubair confirmed the abduction of the four travellers.

” Yes, I can confirm to you that four motor passengers were abducted by armed bandits along Isanlu- Omu- Aran road on Monday.

” However, as at this afternoon ( Tuesday) the kidnappers have not reached out to the community on the fate of the victims. We are deeply worried, ” Oyin- Zubair said.

He expressed worry over what he called the renewed onslaught of the armed bandits in Kwara south, especially in Ifelodun local government area, despite the presence of a full army brigade in the area.

Oyin- Zubair, however, said that the military and other security agencies were doing everything humanly possible to rout out bandits from the area, saying : ” I can tell you without any fear of contradiction that the military men and other security agencies are working, but the bandits are very daring.

” In the last couples of days, the bandits attacked two communities in Ifelodun local government area, kidnapping about 11 people. We appeal to governments at all to help our communities more while appreciating their support thus far.

“The forest guards have been trained and deployed. Even, before now, they have been involved and still involved in collaborative efforts to rout bandits and other criminals out of Kwara south communities,” Oyin- Zubair added.
