Chelsea forward, Alejandro Garnacho has liked a post on Instagram which announced that Ruben Amorim has been removed as the manager of Manchester United.
After Sunday’s United drew 1-1 at Elland Road, Amorim gave a fiery 122-word outburst that appeared to be aimed at the board.
He said he joined the club to be the manager, not just the coach. The 40-year-old Portuguese also said he didn’t plan to stay at Old Trafford past his contract, which was set to end in 18 months.
Amorim left the Theatre of Dreams with the lowest win rate (38.71%) of any long-term Manchester United manager since the Premier League started in 1992.
Garnacho, who left United to join Chelsea in a £40 million transfer last summer, was fast to respond to Fabrizio Romano’s Instagram post that revealed the news – and fans instantly thought the Argentine’s ‘like’ was a comment on his former manager.
It was well known that Amorim and Garnacho did not get along, especially as Garnacho was leaving Manchester.
This situation worsened after Amorim left Garnacho out of the team for the Manchester derby in December 2024, and their relationship did not get better from there.
In May, after Garnacho did not play in United’s last game of the season against Aston Villa, Amorim told the young player he could leave the team.
Garnacho has played in 20 games across all competitions for his new team, Chelsea. Chelsea also do not have a manager anymore because Enzo Maresca left last week.
The Argentina player has been inconsistent so far at Stamford Bridge, scoring only one goal in his 10 starts in the Premier League.
