The Kwara State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed the Harmonised Taxes and Levies (Approval for Collection) Bill, 2025 to law.
The passage of the bill followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation during plenary session led by the chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Fatimoh Arinola Lawal.
The lawmakers affirmed that the report presented truly reflected the deliberations and resolutions reached at the committee stage.
Following the adoption of the report, the Speaker of the House, Engr Yakub Danladi – Salihu, directed the Clerk to read the bill for the third time in accordance with Order 11, Rule 73 , Sub section 1 of the House Standing Rules.
The Harmonised Taxes and Levies (Approval for Collection) Bill, 2025, was thereafter read the third time and duly passed into law.
The Speaker, however, directed the Clerk of the House to prepare the clean copy for the direct assent of Governor AndulRahman AbdulRazaq.
LEADERSHIP reports that the passage of the bill was a landmark legislation aimed at strengthening revenue administration and ensuring uniformity in tax collection across the state.
