A former Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the National Assembly, Philip Aduda, on Tuesday said the North Central geopolitical zone has now fully aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the party’s embrace of the nation’s capital.
Aduda, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC last week, stated this when he received the Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Abdullahi Sabo and his Bwari Area Council counterpart, John Gabaya, who also joined the ruling party in Abuja.
The former lawmaker said that with all the states of the North Central zone, including the FCT, in the APC, they will work together to deliver President Bola Tinubu at the 2027 general election.
“It is now seven over seven for the North Central geopolitical zone to deliver Mr President. By the special grace of God, we’ll get the support from here to ensure that 2027 is a success and that Mr President wins the 2027 general election.
“If the area council chairmen are complete in the APC, it means that by the special grace of God, we are going to work to ensure that we deliver the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
We will ensure that we deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu so that he can continue the good work he is doing for us in the FCT.
“That is why the two executive chairmen saw reasons why they should join the All Progressive Congress so that together we can work to take the FCT to the highest level, not to the next level. Because if it is the next level, I think the Minister of FCT is already doing so by the President’s instructions.
“So, I want to thank the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory for all that he is doing for us in the FCT and how he has enabled us to key into the ‘Rainbow Coalition’ and to key into the Renewed Hope agenda of Mr President.
“By the special grace of God, we will continue to work towards the development of the FCT by supporting the FCT Minister and by supporting Mr President’s various projects and various initiatives to better the lives of the citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.
Aduda, who lost the 2023 general election, said he would listen to his people’s calls to contest for the seat again in the 2027 polls if that is their wish, adding that the mistakes of the last general election will not be repeated.
“We have seen our mistakes, we have seen what happened in the 2023 general election, and we will not allow it to repeat itself. That’s why we are all coming together to ensure we work in unison and as a team towards delivering for the FCT.
“I will listen to the call of the people and, by the special grace of God, I will listen to the call of the people clearly. It is in the hands of God. I will listen to the clarion call of the people. If it is the wish of the people that I go back to serve them, so be it. I’ll be there ready for service and to serve the people as I’ve always done over the years,” the former Senate minority leader added.
On his part, the ALGON/Kwali Area Council Chairman, Hon Danladi Chiya, welcomed his colleagues to the ruling party, saying that staying in the opposition will not give FCT anything, as even Aduda sees the necessity to align and realign with the Rainbow Coalition to better the lots of people of the territory.
“For the interest of the people of FCT, there is still room and time for him (Aduda) to serve the people of FCT. That is why today, you can see that our younger ones and all other stakeholders in FCT have decided to join the Renew Hope Agenda programme of Mr President.
“We are calling on him to come and complete that assignment that he has left in the National Assembly. He started well, but we want him to come and complete it for us. We can start crying now because during his time, we have a lot of appointments; ambassadorial appointments, board appointments, and all other appointments across the board,” he added.
In their separate remarks, the Kuje and Bwari Area Councils chairmen said their decision to join the APC was informed by the giant strides of President Tinubu, as represented by the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, in the nation’s capital, and pledged their unwavering loyalty and support to the President.
