NPFL: Mangut relishes Nasarawa United’s big win over Rivers United

Published:

Nasarawa United technical adviser, Mbwas Mangut, has acknowledged the significance of his team’s 4-1 win over Rivers United.

Mangut emphasized that the goals scored will be important in the decisive stage of the season.

Nasarawa United are tied on goal difference with second-placed Rivers United on the league table.

The Solid Miners sit in third position with 50 points, while Rivers United have 52 points.

The top two teams will qualify for the CAF Champions League, while the third-placed team will earn a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

“It’s a joy to have scored this number of goals against a very strong side and former league champions, Rivers United,” Mangut told Nasarawa United’s media team.

“We were very aware of the importance of goals as the league edges towards its climax. The support from the club’s hierarchy really motivated us.

“With due respect to our opponents, if we had converted all our chances today, we could have scored up to eight goals. I praise my wards for adhering to our game plans.”
