APC Declares Readiness For Convention, 2027 Polls, Holds ‘Go Green’ Walk

Published:

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its readiness for the conduct of its National Convention scheduled for this weekend, as well as the 2027 general elections.

Chairman of the Central Coordination Committee for the APC 2026 National Convention, Hon. Aminu Masari, alongside other key party leaders, made this known in Abuja on Monday.

They spoke after participating in a “Cleaner and Safer Environment Walk” themed “Let’s Go Green,” organised by the Environment and Sanitation Sub-committee of the convention planning team.

Addressing journalists, Masari, a former governor of Katsina State, said the event symbolised the party’s preparedness not only for the convention but also for the 2027 polls.

“This exercise demonstrates that the APC is ready, not just for the convention coming up this Saturday, but also for the 2027 elections. We are confident of victory,” he said.

On challenges encountered in planning the convention, Masari acknowledged that some existed but described them as part of the process.

“There are always challenges in any human endeavour. What is important is how they are managed. We are on course for a successful convention,” he added.
In his remarks, co-chairman of the Convention Environment and Sanitation Sub-committee and former Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, said the walk reflected the party’s capacity to organise a hitch-free convention.

“What we have done today shows that we have the capacity, energy, and organisation to deliver a peaceful and successful convention. The APC is repositioning itself with a clear agenda for Nigerians,” he said.

Ayade also expressed confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that ongoing reforms would yield positive results.

“The President has shown courage and commitment. As the benefits of these reforms begin to manifest, Nigerians will appreciate the direction of this administration,” he added.

Similarly, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and member of the Convention Planning Committee, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, said the party remained focused on both national and global concerns, including environmental sustainability.

“This initiative highlights not just our internal preparedness but also our awareness of global issues like climate change. It is part of our broader vision for Nigeria,” he said.

Dogara also urged Nigerians to be patient with ongoing reforms, noting that meaningful change often comes with challenges.

“Just as injury comes with pain, healing also takes time. The reforms will ultimately benefit Nigerians,” he stated.

In her remarks, Secretary of the APC Convention Environment and Sanitation Sub-committee, Senator Uche Ekwunife, commended participants for their turnout, describing it as a strong signal of unity and readiness.

“This walk sends a clear message that the APC is prepared, not just for the convention, but for the 2027 elections. We are confident of victory,” she said.
