The Taraba State Police Command has dismissed a viral video alleging a planned terrorist attack in parts of the state, assuring residents that there is no cause for panic.
The video, which circulated on social media since Friday, claimed that attacks would occur on March 23, 2026, in Takum and Donga Local Government Areas, creating tension and forcing some residents to flee their homes.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah described the video as false and fabricated, saying it was intended to disturb public peace.
He said the command was aware of the video and had taken proactive steps with other security agencies to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, has ordered the deployment of operational and intelligence-driven security measures across the state to safeguard lives and property.
The command urged residents, especially those in Takum and Donga, to go about their lawful activities without fear, noting that security operatives had been strategically positioned in critical areas.
Police also warned against spreading unverified information and advised the public to rely on official sources, while calling on residents to report suspicious movements to security agencies.
