Nigeria’s Wheelchair Basketball Team Heads To Commonwealth Games Qualifiers

Nigeria’s national wheelchair basketball team has departed for Luanda, Angola, to compete in the Commonwealth Games Qualifiers, scheduled from March 22nd to 27th, 2026.

Eight athletes will represent the nation, vying for a coveted spot at the upcoming Commonwealth Games against other top teams.

Seyi Johnson, President of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, expressed strong confidence in the team’s prospects ahead of their departure.

“We are confident in the quality, resilience, and determination of our athletes. They have prepared well, and we are optimistic that they will deliver positive results that will secure Nigeria’s qualification for the Commonwealth Games,” he stated.

Johnson highlighted the significance of the qualifiers, not only as a chance for sporting excellence but also as a platform to showcase the growing strength of wheelchair basketball within Nigeria. The team’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to inclusive sports development and the promotion of para-sports on the international stage.
