The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate Office in Lagos are to close for the Eid-el-Fitr holiday.
The announcement was made via the mission’s official X handle on Wednesday.
According to the post, both offices will shut down on Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, to mark the celebration.
“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, 2026, in observance of the Eid-el-Fitr holiday.
“Happy Eid-el-Fitr to all our friends and families in Nigeria and around the world who celebrate!” the statement read.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that the Federal Government declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026 as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr, which signifies the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary.
