Passengers en-route Kaduna from Abuja escaped death on Monday after the Abuja-Kaduna train service derailed at Asham.
Several online videos showed stranded passengers at the scene of the incident while the Nigeria Railway Corporation also confirmed the incident.
Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kayode Opeifa told journalists that the train encountered an incident on Monday.
He however, stated that no life was lost, and the injured passengers are been taken to Abuja for medical attention.
He also said NRC is currently carrying out an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
According to him, “the train encountered an incident near Asham. No person died but the injured passengers had been brought back to Idu train station for necessary medical attention.
“It is confirmed that our Abuja-Kaduna train had an incident at Asham. Passengers were injured while an investigation is ongoing into the exact cause of the incident,”
