NAPTIP arrests, launches probe into alleged trafficking minors into Nasarawa

Published:

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has begun an in-depth investigation into the suspected trafficking of four minors from Adamawa State to Nasarawa State, according to reports.

The Nasarawa State Commandant of NAPTIP, Sa’adatu Galadima, disclosed this while presenting two suspects linked to the case in Lafia, the state capital.

She identified the suspects as Asabe Bedan, 33, and Calpurnia Ogianfen, 40.

According to Galadima, the pair were intercepted by operatives of the Department of State Services while travelling from Karu Local Government Area in Nasarawa State and heading toward Edo State.

Galadima added that preliminary findings suggest the suspects may have been involved in the trafficking of more than 20 children, allegedly moving them from Adamawa to destinations including Edo and Lagos State.

She said investigations are ongoing to uncover the full scope of the suspected trafficking network and identify other possible accomplices.
