Rivers Politicians Bringing Nigeria To Ruin — Pat Utomi

Published:

Founder of the Lagos Business School Prof. Pat Utomi has accused politicians from Rivers State of bringing Nigeria to ruin by destroying its institutions.

Utomi spoke yesterday in Port Harcourt while delivering a keynote address at a public lecture with the theme: “Role of the Church in Nation Building.”

The public lecture, which attracted prominent religious leaders and academics, was held to mark the 60th birthday of the senior pastor of the Hilltop International Christian Centre, Rev. Chris Oarhe.

Utomi said: “Rivers State has not done better, I love that song, “Port Harcourt boys oooooh,” but Port Harcourt boys are bringing Nigeria to ruin. They are destroying Nigeria’s institutions, judiciary, electoral commission.

“All those pillars of our society are being grabbed by the narcissist, self-loving political class that thinks nothing about tomorrow.”

He said the world had made significant progress due to the advent of Christianity, pointing out that it is only the church that can help in rebuilding morals in society.

“Our world has made the progress it has made significantly because of Christianity. It is the church, more than any other institution, that can help us rebuild morals in society,” Utomi said.

In his remarks, the senior pastor of Hilltop International Christian Centre, Rev. Chris Oarhe, said for a nation to change, it needs the contributions of the church.

“If the nation is going to change, it needs the church. If the nation is going to be transformed, the leadership of the nation must be transformed.

It is the church that will provide the leadership that will save the nation and the world,” he added.
