Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has revealed that allies in the Middle East have asked Ukraine to share its expertise in combating Iranian “Shahed” drones.
Zelenskyy disclosed this in a tweet via his X account on Thursday, insisting that Ukraine is ready to offer its support.
“We received signals from partners in the Middle East. There have been strikes by Iranian “shaheds” on civilians in those countries,” Zelenskyy wrote.
“They are seeking our expertise. We are open. If their representatives come, we will provide the expertise.”
Recall that the United States and Gulf countries are seeking to explore the use of Ukrainian interceptor drones to defend against mass Shahed drone attacks from Iran.
Drone warfare is a central part of the conflict in Ukraine, and Russia has purchased and used thousands of Iranian-made Shahed drones in its attacks on the country.
Russia has fired tens of thousands of Shaheds at Ukraine since it invaded its neighbour just over four years ago.
However, Iran has responded with the same type of drones to joint US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.
