The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved 18 new academic programmes for Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, alongside the re-accreditation of 42 existing ones, following a resource inspection and accreditation visit in January 2026.
The approval was conveyed in a letter dated February 20, 2026, and signed by the Director, Polytechnic and Allied Programmes Department, Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris Mohammed Bugaje.
The development is expected to expand the institution’s admission capacity and strengthen its technical and vocational education offerings.
The newly approved programmes include HND Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering (Soil and Water), HND Computer Engineering Technology, ND Mechatronics Engineering Technology, ND Renewable Energy Technology, Welding and Fabrication Engineering, and HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Plant Engineering option).
Others are HND Science Laboratory Technology with options in Environmental Biology, Microbiology and Biochemistry; ND Glass Technology; ND Library and Information Science; HND Journalism and Media Studies; HND Film and Multimedia Production; HND Animal Production Technology; HND Pest Management Technology; ND Common and Islamic Law; ND Law; and ND Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi, described the accreditation as a major milestone, noting that it would enable the institution to respond to emerging industry demands and produce skilled graduates capable of contributing to national development.
He attributed the achievement to the support of Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, stating that the state government’s investment in educational infrastructure and funding of the accreditation exercise facilitated the successful outcome.
The Rector also appreciated the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo, the ministry’s staff and the polytechnic community for their roles in securing the approvals.
