The legendary actor Robert De Niro’s 1995 movie Casino will be available to stream on Netflix by March 1, as the film turned 30 this past year.
The classic drama is based on a true story about a Las Vegas casino run by the mafia in the 1970s and early 1980s.
De Niro plays Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein, while star actress Sharon Stone plays Ginger McKenna, and Joe Pesci plays Nicky Santoro.
The gangster/mafia movie’s supporting cast includes Don Rickles as Billy Sherbert, James Woods as Lester Diamond, Kevin Pollak as Phillip Green, and Frank Vincent as Frank Marino.
The crime movie centres around Ace, a mafia associate, who is asked to run casinos in Las Vegas and rises to power. But his fights with Nicky, his friend, and Ginger, his love interest, cause difficulties. The movie’s primary characters are based on real people.
Ace’s character is motivated by the life of Frank Rosenthal, who is also called ‘Lefty’. He managed the Stardust, Fremont, Marina, and Hacienda casinos in Las Vegas for the Chicago Outfit from 1968 until 1981. Mobster Anthony Spilotro and ex-dancer and socialite Geri McGee inspire the characters Nicky and Ginger.
The movie was released on November 22, 1995.
