New Spider-Man Set Photos Hint at When ‘Brand New Day’ Takes Place in the MCU

Published:

The wait for the next Spider-Man film has been a long one, but it seems like we just got our first major clue about where it fits into the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we’re still a ways away from its “Brand New Day” release, an eagle-eyed fan spotted a detail in some newly surfaced set photos that might just reveal the movie’s place in the timeline.

This is big news for fans who have been speculating for years about what Peter Parker has been up to since the events of No Way Home.

The Clue Hiding in Plain Sight

The set photos, which were shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the account Spider-Man News, didn’t feature Tom Holland in costume or any major plot points. Instead, the photos showed a New York City setting that was under construction. But it was a seemingly innocuous detail on a construction sign that caught the attention of fans.

The sign, from a company named FYX Group, listed an “anticipated completion” date of December 2027.

This seemingly small piece of information is actually a major key to the MCU’s future. It places the events of the new Spider-Man film squarely in the year 2027. This is particularly interesting because it puts the movie in the same year as Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts. More importantly, it confirms that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will take place before the events of the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, which is expected to kick off around 14 months after Thunderbolts.

What Does This Mean for Spider-Man?

This timeline reveal suggests a more contained, “street-level” adventure for our favorite web-slinger. It indicates that Peter Parker’s next chapter will focus on his life as an independent, friendly neighborhood hero in a post-No Way Home world, rather than immediately throwing him into the larger cosmic conflicts of an Avengers film. This aligns with previous comments from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who said the film would lean into street-level crime.

While the plot remains a mystery, the film’s 2027 setting provides a clear runway for Peter to grow as a hero and set the stage for his eventual involvement in the Avengers saga. It also leaves plenty of room for speculation about what other street-level heroes—like Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, who is rumored to appear—could show up in a New York City that is actively rebuilding.

The set photos don’t give us all the answers, but they do confirm one thing: Peter Parker’s new day is just beginning, and we finally know when to expect it.
