On Wednesday, the National Examinations Council (NECO) officially announced the release of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.
According to Azeez Sani, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations for NECO, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination across 12 subjects. While the statement did not detail the candidates’ performance, it confirmed that the examination successfully took place from May 12th to May 23rd, 2025.
Azeez Sani stated that the results were released after the successful conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting, held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna. During the meeting, Dr. Folake Olatunji David, Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education and Chairperson of the Award Committee, expressed her satisfaction with the process leading to the results’ release.
The NECO spokesperson also noted that the Award Committee meeting was attended by various secondary school principals from across the country, as well as NECO Management.
Furthermore, the Award Committee has approved the dates and timetable for the 2025 BECE Re-sit examination. NECO confirmed that “The Re-sit examination is scheduled to hold on 23rd and 24th July, 2025 for Mathematics and English Studies.”
