Anambra Unveils Major Projects: Fun City Opening, Mental Health Centre, and More

Published:

The Anambra State Government is rolling out significant development initiatives, including a new state rehabilitation center to address mental health challenges. This comes as the highly anticipated Solution Fun City prepares to open its doors to the public this Saturday, June 28, 2025.

The Solution Fun City, a flagship project of Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, was officially inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu during his visit to Anambra on May 8.

Solution Fun City Opens and Key Council Decisions

In a statement released on Tuesday, State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, confirmed that Saturday, June 28, is the public opening date for Solution Fun City. This decision was reached at the 12th meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council held on June 23, 2025, at the Light House, Awka.

During the meeting, several other crucial decisions were made. Notably, the council approved the construction of a rehabilitation center at Nibo, Awka, specifically designed to tackle the state’s mental health issues. This facility aims to provide comprehensive services for individuals transitioning from asylums, ensuring they receive the necessary care for full recovery before reintegrating into their families and communities.

To mark the grand opening of Solution Fun City, the state government has invited renowned Anambra-born music icon Chinedu Okoli (Flavour), along with other notable musicians like Umu-Obiligbo, to lead the festivities. The event is open to the public.

Revitalizing Anambra: “Anambra Rebirth Programme” and Key Contracts

The council also delved deeper into the proposed Anambra Rebirth Programme. This initiative’s blueprint will focus on several vital objectives: restoring the traditional Igbo Apprenticeship system (Igba Boi), fostering a return to hard work and integrity, and criminalizing obscenities, particularly the ostentatious display of wealth and “wealth without work” ideologies.

Furthermore, the council considered and approved several significant contract awards:

  • N417,319,619.85 to Triseconds Resources Ltd for the construction and modeling of the State Rehabilitation Centre at Nibo, Awka Capital Territory.
  • N72,598,200.88 to Achufusi Ventures for the relocation and expansion of the Solution Hub & Park at Aroma Junction, Awka.
  • N414,907,757.85 to Navigator Sign Ltd for the construction of an increte walkway and flooring, installation of kerbs, and aesthetic enhancement of the Ekwulobia Flyover.
  • N340,936,079.62 to Hemebs Construction Ltd for additional works and fluctuations on the construction of a six-hall high court building complex.
  • N790,241,598.42 to O Ben Developers Ltd for additional works and fluctuations on the construction of 17 unit dwellings (duplexes) and ancillary facilities at the new Commissioners’ Quarters, Awka.
  • N62,867,234.16 to B & O Ltd for rate fluctuations on the construction of additional perimeter fencing, stormwater drainage culverts, and chain-like fences at the Safari Park, Agulu Lake.

These initiatives underscore the Anambra State Government’s commitment to comprehensive development, ranging from public amenities and healthcare to cultural values and infrastructure.
