2027: Benue APC NASS Caucus Targets Extra 1m Votes For Tinubu

Published:

The Benue State Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in National Assembly has declared its intention to secure an additional one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election, hinging its strategy on the party’s ongoing e-registration and revalidation exercise to expand its membership base across the state.

The caucus made this known in Makurdi, with Hon. Philip Agbese, Member of the House of Representatives for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency and Spokesperson of the Benue APC NASS Caucus, saying the move was part of a coordinated mobilisation effort involving key party stakeholders.

Agbese said the caucus was working closely with a group led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, to ensure that verified party members were fully captured in the e-registration process.

Speaking to journalists after inspecting registration materials, Agbese expressed confidence that the integration of the Akume-led structure into the exercise would significantly boost APC’s numerical strength in the state.

“We are coming with serious business,” he said. “The Akume group alone has over half a million verified members ready to be captured in this exercise. Within the next seven days, we will upload every one of them. That single move will increase APC membership in Benue by at least 500,000. And mark my words—we are targeting an extra one million votes for President Tinubu in the next election cycle.”

He contrasted what he described as genuine grassroots mobilisation with what he termed superficial claims by opposition elements, insisting that the APC’s strength remains in its on-the-ground structures.

“After one solid month, the other side has only managed about 30,000 registrations. Our people are on the ground; they understand the stakes and are responding in large numbers. This e-registration is our chance to reclaim and strengthen the party from the roots,” Agbese said.

The lawmaker called on APC members across the state to fully cooperate with party officials at the local government level to ensure the success of the exercise, warning against internal divisions and apathy.

“This is not the time for division or a lukewarm attitude. With the structure Senator Akume has built and the commitment we are seeing, APC in Benue is set to become unstoppable again. Let’s make this exercise a huge success together,” he added.

Agbese reaffirmed the caucus’ commitment to President Tinubu’s re-election bid, stating that the party would work to convert popular support into tangible electoral outcomes.

“We are serious about shooting his votes up by another one million from Benue State alone. The people trust his leadership, and we will ensure their support translates into massive numbers in 2027 and beyond,” he added.
