No fewer than 10 passengers, including a female grain trader, have been reportedly kidnapped along the Takum–Tor Donga–Katsina-Ala highway in Benue State.
The incident was said to have occurred on Monday, February 9, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m, as the victims were travelling from Takum in Taraba State to Tor-Donga Market in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.
A family member of one of the abducted passengers disclosed that the attack took place at Tse-De settlement, within Katsina-Ala LGA.
According to the source, suspected kidnappers intercepted the vehicle along the busy route linking Takum, Tor Donga, and Katsina-Ala before whisking the passengers away.
One of the victims was identified as a businesswoman who deals in grains and was heading to the popular Tor-Donga Market for trading activities.
As of Sunday, February 16, 2026, exactly one week after the incident, relatives said there had been no communication from the abductors.
The prolonged silence has heightened fears over the safety and condition of the victims.
Family members have appealed to security agencies to urgently intervene and intensify efforts to secure the release of their loved ones.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police Command responded, saying, “Good morning I’ll get back to you please”, but had yet to provide further details as of the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, residents along the Takum–Tor Donga–Katsina-Ala corridor have continued to express concern over rising insecurity in the area, calling on authorities to strengthen patrols and surveillance to curb criminal activities on the route.
